Friday, Dec. 4, 2015 (Day 60)
Solving word problems using substitution was today's math lesson. The students used the 5 steps to solve each word problem. The 1st step is identifying the variables. The 2nd step is setting up 2 equations. One equation will be slope-intercept form and the other one will be in standard form. Using substitution to solve the equations was step 3. Step 4 was finding the other answer. And always, as the last step, answer the question with a complete sentence. The assignment was FLUENCY PRACTICE: Substitution Word Problems Worksheet.

Thursday, Dec. 3, 2015 (Day 59)
Today's lesson was solving systems of equations by substitution. The students substituted a slope-intercept form into a slope-intercept form and solve to find the x answer. Then they found the y answer by substituting the x answer into one of the slope-intercept equations. They also substituted the slope-intercept form equation into the standard and solve for x. To find the y answer they substituted the x answer into the slope-intercept form equation. The assignment was FLUENCY PRACTICE: Systems of Equations - Substitution Worksheet.

Wednesday, Dec. 2, 2015 (Day 58)
The lesson for today was solving word problems by graphing systems of equations. The students had to set up 2 linear functions, graph the 2 functions, find the intersection, and then answer the question using the information from the intersection. The assignment was Solving Word Problems by Graphing Systems of Equations Worksheet.

Tuesday, Dec. 1, 2015 (Day 57)
Today's lesson was similar to yesterday's lesson of graphing systems of equations. However, if the 2 lines graphed, then there was "no solution" because parallel lines don't intersect. Or if the lines were the same line, then the answer would be "infinitely many solutions" because they are coinciding lines. Or, finally, there would be 1 answer, which is the point itself, if the lines are intersecting. The assignment was Fluency Practice: Graphing System of Equations B Worksheet.

Monday, Nov. 30, 2015 (Day 56)
The lesson for today was graphing systems of equations. The students graphed 2 lines and found where they intersected. The assignment was Fluency Practice: Graphing System of Equations A Worksheet.
